Mate Selection

I really enjoyed todays discussion about mate selection. The issue of mate selection isn't really thought about a lot because most people just fall in love with someone without thinking about why or what they're looking for. Since it was a student-led discussion, I thought it was easier for everyone to speak freely without fear of being wrong. It was interesting to have a group discussion where part of the time you were only listening and not talking. It was also nice to hear everyone else's view on selecting a mate. Although it came up as a joke, the discussion about arranged marriage really got me thinking, what if I was stuck in this situation, and how would I deal with it? I'm glad we talked about this after reading Pride & Prejudice because we have the luxury of being able to marry outside a social class and not just marrying for status or money.
